AIR Control Concepts Appoints Onur Demirkaya as Chief Financial Officer

Doug Hix to retire following a transition period
NORFOLK, Va. – October 6, 2026 – AIR Control Concepts (“AIR”), the world’s largest commercial HVAC, electrical and controls platform, today announced the appointment of Onur Demirkaya as Chief Financial Officer, effective October 1, 2026. Demirkaya succeeds Doug Hix, who served as AIR's Chief Financial Officer and will remain with the company through January 1, 2027 to support an orderly transition before retiring.
Demirkaya began his career in the audit practice at Ernst & Young and held finance leadership roles at two publicly traded companies before joining Foundation Building Materials ("FBM") in 2014. During his nearly 12 years at FBM, he held finance and accounting roles of increasing responsibility, including five years as Chief Financial Officer. Over that time, the company grew to approximately $6.5 billion in revenue through organic growth, more than 60 acquisitions and more than 50 greenfield openings and was sold to Lowe's for $8.8 billion in 2025.
“Onur has led finance through periods of growth and change in a large, decentralized organization, which is the environment he is entering at AIR,” said Hayden Bland, President of AIR Control Concepts. “He understands and respects what makes our operating companies successful, and he is well positioned to build on the foundation Doug and our finance team have created.”
“My approach to finance, and to the functions that support our operating companies, centers on people, processes and systems,” said Demirkaya. “AIR has built a platform that gives its operating companies the resources of a larger organization while preserving what makes each of them successful, and I look forward to working with Doug, our finance and accounting teams, and leaders across the company as AIR continues to grow.”
Hix joined AIR in early 2023 at the start of the platform’s build. During his tenure, he helped establish and develop AIR’s finance and accounting organization, consolidate its financial reporting, strengthen its lender and reporting capabilities, expand its financing facilities, and support the addition of operating companies to the platform. More recently, he contributed to the modernization of the company’s enterprise systems.
“Doug has been central to building AIR’s finance organization since the earliest days of the platform,” said Bland. “We are grateful for his leadership and for his commitment to making this transition a smooth one.”
“It has been a privilege to help build AIR’s finance organization alongside such a capable team,” said Hix. “Onur is an excellent choice to lead it forward, and look forward to working with him during this transition.”
